Nakhid draws US$2,000 fine

TRINIDAD and Tobago midfielder David Nakhid was handed a US$2,000 fine for what has been described as “unsporting behaviour”  in Tuesday’s match against Cuba. The Cubans came from a goal down to edge the Soca Warriors 2-1, handing them their second defeat in this year’s Digicel Caribbean Cup being contested in Barbados.

Nakhid, also banned for one match by the Caribbean Football Union disciplinary committee, had the suspension lifted after an appeal, and played in last night’s finale against the Bajans. The Soca Warriors entered last night’s game needing a draw with Barbados to clinch the third and final place for the CONCACAF Gold Cup along with the US$30,000 prize money.
