Print Bills in newspapers
THE EDITOR: Very important pieces of legislation, like the Anti-Terrorism Bill, which affects the entire population must never be viewed as the sole property of the legislative body of TT. It will affect us and we must be consulted. We do not have to conduct a costly referendum, but we can innovate new ways of satisfying the wishes of the people. A simple way is to print these Bills in their entirety on one or more of the daily newspapers, then call for comments.
Whatever comments you receive from the public, the legislature would be in the clear when decisions are made. Another thing is that statements were made to the effect that terrorism emanates from poverty — what bull, coming from so-called leaders. Crime comes from the result of poverty. Terrorism is an international act played out by the filthy rich, in direct response to global politics and their economic and social policies. Our 1990 problem arose because of two containers of medicines which were donated for the welfare of the poor, but they were left to expire on the port. Coupled with this was the Gene Miles statue.
