Supremelysatisfied off to the Garrison today

SUPREMELYSATISFIED went well in his final blowout at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday, before leaving for his engagement in the Tanglewood Stakes and Trophy at the Garrison Savannah, Barbados, on Sandy Lane Gold Cup Day, Saturday. Trainer John O’Brien again chose the right-handed route on the sand course yesterday, to give his four-year-old charge his final gallop, and while he did not lay out as fluently as he did in his past races travelling anti-clockwise, he by no means disappointed. The Jamaican-bred son of Law Of The Sea/Midnight Angel covered 1000 metres in 1:02.44 seconds with jockey Emile Ramsammy astride.

Ramsammy who will partner him in the staying event at the Garrison gave him a few reminders with the whip after he passed the clock off point. Supremelysatisfied is the lone Trinidad and Tobago entrant on Saturday’s card, on which the feature is the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup. The Sandy Lane Spa Sprint Stakes and Tanglewood Stakes and Trophy are the co-features. Supremelysatisfied is expected to fly out today, while Ramsammy, who booted home 10 winners in the four days he has so far ridden at Santa Rosa Park, is booked to leave tomorrow. Ramsammy, who left Trinidad in 1990, said yesterday, he was enjoying his stay and is contemplating extending his vacation to the end of March. Soundsgoodtume was another to show some life over the same 1000 metres distance yesterday morning.

This lightly raced chestunt covered the acreage in 1:03.66 seconds. But the unexpected star of the morning was Premier Attraction. The Christopher Prime-trained four-year-old showed he relished  the turf, sprinting 800 metres in 47.59 seconds. Trainer Jack Debideen’s string has been firing on all cylinders at the moment, and it appears there is more to come from the barn. Border Dispute is one to put on the shortlist. This unraced three-year-old played cat and mouse with Peace Of Mind in his spin over 800 metres, pulling away at the end to clock 51.32 seconds, with his older companion trailing behind in 53.70 seconds. Fire Power, who gave untold trouble to be loaded into  the starting stalls for the This Feeling Nice maiden event on Saturday and was withdrawn, saved some of his energy for yesterday. The gelded son of Kaheel/Viva Surya posted 36.99 seconds for his 600 metres gallop.
