TT cricketers without game plan

THE EDITOR: Three losses in the Carib Beer Competition in a row: what usually results from abuse of discipline. The moment senior national cricketer Imran Jan was relieved of the vice-captaincy the fortunes of the national cricket team declined when the Windward Islands came from nowhere to win outright! In the match against Jamaica, especially in the final stage, one commentator was heard questioning the game plan of the Trinidad and Tobago team as wickets tumbled during the runs chase. Before the national team headed to the Mudland, team unity had “loosed down” (to use a Guyanese slang)!

Along with the sacking of three players, namely Imran Jan (who was said to have back spasms), Shazam Babwah (a batsman who left Jamaica to attend his father’s funeral) and Dave “Tatty Tadpole” Mohammed, there is more in the mortar than the pestle. Dancing Brave is again able, with the help of his guest on the Isports programme, to give the listening pubic further insight into the rumblings within the senior national cricket team. Mr Dudnath Ramkessoon, a former batting all-rounder, is in a very unenviable position indeed. This is the same team that won the limited overs Presidential Cup last year and it brings back memories of “I told you so” about the present situation.
