Top seeds in Tranquil finals

THE top two seeds in both the men’s and women’s singles advanced to the respective finals of the Citigroup Tranquillity Open Tennis Tournament, at the Tranquillity Tennis Club, Port-of-Spain, yesterday. And tomorrow, Barbadians Wkwesi Williams and Russell Moseley will face off in the men’s decider, while the local duo of Anastasia Weedon and Shenelle Mohammed will meet for the women’s trophy.

In yesterday’s men’s semis, Williams ended the quest of TT’s Andrew Awai 6-2, 6-4 while Moseley cruised past countryman Devon McCarthy 6-4, 6-1. Weedon crushed Carlista Mohammed 6-0, 6-3 while Shenelle Mohammed (no relation) eliminated Dayna Grazette 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). Matches in the mixed doubles will hold centre stage when the tournament continues from 4.15 pm today.
