‘Chanders’ (125) leads Guyanese fightback
GEORGETOWN, Guyana: Captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul courageously led his team’s resolute fight back at Bourda as Guyana chased first innings points against the Windward Islands on the third day of their 9th round Carib Beer Series match yesterday. Responding to the Windward Islands’ total of 443, Guyana closed on a threatening 383 for seven, with Chanderpaul not out on 125 and Vishal Nagamootoo on 16.
Chanderpau’sl undefeated knock was scored over six-and-a-quarter hours of unflinching concentration. Guyana are still 61 runs away from first innings points with three wickets in hand, inclusive of the injured Ryan Ramdass who is expected to bat but with a runner after injuring his ankle while fielding.
