Ramsuchit, Perkins rally Wanderers in run-fest
TALENTED openers Looknath Ramsuchit and William Perkins once again displayed their penchant for FCB Clarke Road bowling starring in another run-fest at Gilbert Park, California yesterday. Two Sundays ago, the Ramsuchit-Perkins tandem belted the Penal Boys to all parts of the small ground, posting 115 in ten overs as they chased 141 for victory off 15 overs. And it was another scintillating batting display in their Carib Shield quarter-final match which was reduced to 25-overs-a-side because of rain. Wanderers, having been sent in by Clarke Road who won the toss, raced to an imposing 227 for seven wickets off 25 overs.
Eighteen-year-old Perkins and Ramsuchit showed no respect for any of the Clarke Road bowlers hitting 111 runs off 13.1 overs before Perkins was bowled by Mukesh Persad for a whirlwind 64 which was scored in 49 minutes. He smashed two sixes and five fours off 51 balls. Brent Lezama joined Ramsuchit and added a further 58 for the second wicket when he was dismissed for 27, which contained two sixes and two fours off 17 balls. Twenty-one-year-old Ramsuchit continued to plunder all the bowlers and slammed two sixes and seven fours before he went for a hurricane 89 off 61 balls at 202. Keno Mason struck three fours off 14 balls received for his 24 while Vedesh Maharaj counted a six and a four for his ten runs.
At Pierre Road, Charlieville Ceramic Merry Boys suffered from lapses and a controversial dismissal of skipper Lincoln Roberts (3), given out caught behind, plus the run out of Aneil Kanhai (0) as they were bundled out for a meagre 78 all out off 28.2 overs. Only Ken Hazel 45 and Clifton Halls 12 provided any resistance for Navin Stewart who bagged three wickets for 12 runs while Rajendra Mangalie took two for 11. PowerGen Sports compiled 156 with Ahmed Mohammed the topscorer with 48. Anderson Bryce (3 for 20) and Shazam Babwah (2 for 23) did the damage for Clico Preysal at the Syne Village ground, Penal. Three matches will conclude today while the clash between Queen’s Park and Tile It Central Sports will start today at The Oval in Port-of-Spain. Yesterday’s action was stalled because of showers which prevented play.
