No free meal for a ‘thank you’
THE EDITOR: Recently I read in the daily newspaper, that my taxes and that of my fellow citizens, was given to the Breakfast Shed vendors because they were being relocated? Are we the taxpayers (our money that is being spent) do we automatically become shareholders in this new venture? While on the subject of shares, what about all profits generated by this group over the years? Further to the above, who owns the present land? Who owns the building? Who gets the profits (was it given to charity over the years)?
We are not putting these people on the breadline, these people are being relocated at no expense (they should count their blessings) to them but to the taxpayers of this country, who pay hard-earned dollars every day for a meal at the Breakfast Shed, and these jokers talking about “thank you.” Gesture $500,000 per person the taxpayers money, “get with the programme,” when I go to the Breakfast Shed I never got a meal for thank you. If the Urban Development Co-operative want to give away some money, contact me for a list of many worthy causes or read the newspaper for people in dire need of a roof over their heads or an operation to save their lives. These people made millions over the years (and I am glad for them) and probably pay no taxes etc, but the longest rope has an end. God bless. “If good men keep silent evil will prevail.”
