Jan banned for two years
ALLROUND cricketer Imran Jan has been banned by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board for two years. However Shazam Babwah and Dave Mohammed escaped with suspended sentences and will be eligible to play unhindered as long as they do not run afoul of the organisation. The penalties were announced yesterday following an investigation by the National Disciplinary Committee of the TTCB into the players’ conduct during the Carib Beer Series tournament.
Specifically the players were charged with misconduct during the away match to Jamaica. In a media release issued yesterday by Chairman of the Selectors Dudnath Ramkeessoon the matters involving the cricketers were heard by the Disciplinary Committee on March 10 and their recommendations were approved by the Executive Committte of the TTCB. The release stated that Jan is currently in England having left without informing the TTCB. While Jan was banned for two years, one-year and two-year suspended sentences were given to leg spinner Mohammed and middle order batsman Babwah respectively.
