Don’t escape the blame ministers

THE EDITOR: I wish to strongly disagree with all those who have been upset with statements made by Junior Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, and those who have described him as being jurassic in outlook and fossilised in thought. Everyone should be directed to Junior Minister Hinds’ brilliant presentation recently in the Senate, where he revealed words which will forever be remembered as the true meaning of government, cabinet, and constitutional responsibility.

Just as Moses delivered the Ten Commandments, Junior Minister  Hinds was equally majestic when he revealed and directed all to take heed of his immortal words — “I find it preposterous that people say ‘another murder,’  Minister Joseph; one more murder, Minister Joseph; as though Minister Joseph pick up a knife or gun and do somebody something.” The earth shattering pronouncement that Martin Joseph is not a policeman and it was the job of the police to fight crime was able to absolve Joseph from his ministerial oath of serving this nation. When this statement finally resonates, Cabinet ministers may very well breathe a collective sigh of relief as they would now realise that they would not have to accept any responsibility for their policy directives.

If the health sector is dying, Rahael would not be responsible as he is not a doctor or a nurse, when the education system fails it will not be the responsibility of Hazel Manning as she is not a teacher, when works and transport fails, it will not be the responsibility of Franklin Khan as he is not a back-hoe operator or an engineer and when the Ramgoolie Trace housing project fails, it will not be Rowley’s fault as he is not a carpenter. Hinds may even give Patrick Manning a way out sot hat when the society is ruined he could say that he is not a leader.

If Junior Minister Hinds’ doctrine was followed in Nazi-Germany, Hitler would not have been guilty of killing millions of Jews as he did not actually push the gas button and Chile’s Pinochet would not be facing genocide charges today as he too did not kill anyone. Junior Minister Hinds may have been able to save Dole Chadee from the gallows, as he did not pull the trigger to kill the Baboolal family and some high profile cases would have been thrown out before they made it to the local courts as conspiracy charges would have been removed from the statute books. With the talented Junior Minister Hinds enlightening the nation, there is no need for a plethora of national security advisers, who although collecting hefty salaries spend all their time writing inane columns in the newspapers. Way to go Junior Minister Hinds. What a fine mind!
