Trainers take ‘day off’ at Santa Rosa
TRAINERS at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, took a technical day off yesterday morning. There were few horses seen out on the track galloping, as racing will take a holiday this weekend. And of those seen out, they were all doing mainly pace work on a track which was fast. Best of the morning run came from This Cat Is Back, who returned from a five-month lay-off to run a blinder in finishing runner-up to Cash Wager in the feature Stechers Limited Trophy Arima Race Club Cup Handicap over 1800 metres on Easter Monday last.
This fashionably-bred four-year-old American colt by Tabasco Cat/Renew The Dream went over 400 metres in a handy 27.1 seconds yesterday morning looking very full of himself and must be kept on the right side next time out. Also looking very lively in her spin was Hollywood Heidi, a disappointment in the Trinidad Trophies Limited Trophy Ibis Stakes also on Easter Monday. The Freshly Squeezed/Strike It Rich three-year-old filly was seen stretching out over 1000 metres in one minute 08.0 seconds.
Gallops recorded yesterday: (Going: Fast) - 400 METRES: GRAY WARRIOR - 28.4 pacing; RUN MANIE RUN - 29.4 pacing; RUSALKA - 29.3 pacing; SEEDEEOURR - 29.3 pacing; SUPER GREY - 29.4 pacing; THIS CAT IS BACK - 27.1 handy.
800 METRES: CUATRO TEMPO - 54.3 pacing; OTRA AVENIDA - 54.0 pacing.
1000 METRES: HOLLYWOOD HEIDI - 1:08.0 pacing.
1200 METRES: DEADLY SQUEEZE - 1:18.3 pacing (boxes).
