More focus on cricket than crime

THE EDITOR: For the past couple of weeks, all I can read in the daily newspaper is about Lara and West Indies cricket, and how without “Lara” there is no team. Give me a break. Along with the rest of the “team” members, maybe now we shall find out the real meaning of the word “team” as Lara has gone. Anyway I am getting sidetracked. Further to the above, if we (the media and everyone else) focused more on the crime situation as we do on cricket and everyone else’s business, maybe, just maybe we might come up with a solution to the rising crime in Trinidad and Tobago.

Maybe if Manning had lunch with the police at their barracks, and took a page out of Orville London’s book, and went on a couple of police raids on noted drug dens, etc, maybe we should focus on the say “crime” in Spanish instead of “si” in our new proposed school curriculum (course in Spanish). Maybe the Government should admit that they don’t know what to do about crime. Maybe we should hire 200 FBI/CIA/Scotland Yard crime fighting experts. Maybe we should all pray to God on a daily basis to ask for his divine interference, because I know that “God has a plan.” God bless.
