Who will stop the noise?

THE EDITOR: How can those who are put to run the affairs of the Government, not know that it is inhuman and demonic to keep a community awake at nights for hours into the wee hours of the morning because of noise pollution and do nothing to stop it? How can those in the Government, the court, the magistrates, the police, the EMA sleep comfortably at nights and not care about a cross section of the society who do not go to fetes and parties and have to be traumatised by loud, uninviting music and talk coming from giant speaker boxes into your apartment? We are treated with disrespect and nobody in authority seems to care.

I belong to a religious group and if the community is invited to the group’s activities, we would never think of disturbing so loudly the peace from 8 pm in the night into the wee hours like 4 am in the morning. We are in our right minds. It is real madness to have fetes and parties in the complex or community centre or otherwise and disturb a community like that. Heaven help us if those in authority do not work in the interest of the people, and do nothing to stop the madness that prevails in the community.
