Barath hits PowerGen InterCol 100
RISING local cricket star Adrian Barath continued his impressive batting form when he notched an unbeaten 119 in piloting Presentation College, Chaguanas to a commanding 227-run victory over Presentation, San Fernando in the PowerGen SSCL InterCol South-Central quarter-final match yesterday. And after having copped the CLICO West Indies Under 15 Most Valuable Player award last Saturday night, 14-year-old Barath returned to the playing field and displayed his penchant for big scores.
Batting at number three, he featured in two important partnerships as his alma mater set a new record score in the 30-overs-a-side competition. Presentation Chaguanas plundered their brother-institution to tally 310 for three wickets off their allotted 30 overs. Presentation, San Fernando struggled and reached 83 for nine as their 30 overs petered out. Kareem Jumadeen, son former Test spinner Raphick Jumadeen, was the only batsman to make an impression topscoring with 24. Skipper Manoj Sirju took two for nine and Kavesh Kantasingh one for ten from their six overs each.
Summarised Score: PRESENTATION, CHAGUANAS 310 for 3 off 30 overs (Anthony O’Garro 59, Adrian Barath 119 not out, Kevon Lalloo 57 not out) vs
PRESENTATION, SAN FERNANDO 83 for 9 off 30 overs (Kareem Jumadeen 24; Manoj Sirju 2 for 9, Kavesh Kantasingh 1 for 10). Result: Presentation, Chaguanas won by 227 runs and advance to South-Central semi-final.
