Businessmen under curfew

As a result of a list of intended kidnapping victims recently received by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, several businessmen and their families are now living under a lock-and-key curfew. According to reliable sources, the list has identified a senior bank official, two Arima businessmen, a Port-of-Spain businessman and others as their targets. “Already two of the businessmen have shipped their families overseas and are contemplating selling their local businesses and migrate. Right now, it is a case of work or school and straight home.

“Social activities are out. It is a straight case of lock and key. “Every car is a suspect. You do not know who is driving behind you or next to you. It is frightening,” said the businessman. “Whenever we leave our homes, we now have to drive with security and a gun, and still be fearful of who is driving next to us. “The Government and the police seem powerless to protect us. Our only hope is to either go away or lock ourselves in our house and try to defend ourselves if there are any intruders.
