Preysal win Noel Guillen U21 title

BRILLIANT batting by former West Indies B team opener Satish Naidoo who struck 83 not out and newcomer David Livingston 48, enabled Clico Preysal to capture the Noel Guillen Memorial Under 21 title. They registered an impressive seven-wicket victory over Queen’s Park Cricket Club in the final contested at Queen’s Park Oval recently. The Parkites mustered 170 for the loss of eight wickets off the allotted 40 overs. Promising allrounder Kierron Pollard topscored for them with 42 while West Indies 21-year-old allrounder Dwayne Bravo made 41.


TT’s under 19 fast bowler Kwesi Roy was the main wicket-taker with three wickets for 23 runs from his eight overs. In reply, skipper Naidoo received invaluable support from Livingston and featured in a match-winning 128-run first wicket partnership. Although Livingston departed for a well-played 49, Naidoo steered his team to a convincing victory and ended up with the Man of the Match award. Naidoo also was voted Best Batsman while Roy picked up the Best Bowler award.


Clico Preysal is $7,000 richer for the efforts and they showed that their victory over dethroned champion W-Connection Wanderers was well merited although the lost to their neighbours in the preliminary rounds. QPCC is the losing finalist for the second consecutive year and settled with runner-up prize of $3,500. National under 19 player Justin Guillen was named Best Fielder.
