When is President moving house?
THE EDITOR: I am a resident of Maracas Valley, having lived here for the past twenty years. Many of us who live here have spoken about the situation we have encountered with the President’s security detail while leaving and entering the small roads in this area. On each occasion the President leaves in the morning, which is at peak time, we have to pull over on the narrow road sometimes getting into the drain or damaging our front rim or tyre.
It’s the same in coming in on the afternoon. Also when the outriders, police cars and security vehicles are coming late in the morning to pick up the President they put on their sirens forcing the vehicles in front to pull aside. We also have to deal with the police motorcyclist, police cars and heavy army vehicles, going in and out on a daily basis. Also when the President has a large detail out of this area, we have to wait until every one passes before we can proceed. The question I have for the media houses is, how come none of you have picked up this situation and highlighted it? For the Government agency responsible for security and accommodation, has anyone spoken to the gentleman about the danger to him and the public at large if something should happen?
Does the media know that just a few houses from the President’s house sometime in 2003 a house was shot at one morning with several rounds of ammunition, and there was an attempt at kidnapping higher up? What the residents of the area would like to know is why is it taking so long to renovate the cottage house for the President? Is it that he wants to live in Maracas and has no consideration for the people who have to endure this hardship for another three years? Please, would someone tell us the residents when would the President be moving into the official residence?
