Jabloteh win on Fenwick’s return

CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh gave coach Terry Fenwick a rousing welcome with a 4-1 thumping of United Petrotrin in TT Pro League action at the Hasely Crawford Stadium yesterday.

Josh Johnson struck a hat-trick of goals for the winners, while Kerry Noray grabbed the other goals. Kennedy Hinkson got the consolation for United Petrotrin.

The Southerners held firm until two minutes after halftime when Johnson tapped in Noray’s centre which defender Beville Joseph failed to clear. And Noray got his name on the scoresheet in the 54th before Johnson fired in after being sent through on the right after 72 minutes.

The United Petrotrin goal came in the 75th. At the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, Caled-onia AIA/Fire registered consecutive victories for the first time this season when they edged defending champions North/East Stars 1-0.

Second half substitute Titus Elva was the hero with a 78th minute goal after missing three gilt-edged chances. Following a dull first half, the game livened up with the introduction of Kendall Velox (Stars) and Denzil Theobald (AIA/Fire).

Elva was denied in the 70th by a brilliant save by Trevor Nottingham.

But the goalkeeper could not stop the striker’s shot which eluded him for the game winner.
