Kallis back as No 1
ST JOHN’S, ANTIGUA: Proteas batsman Jacques Kallis has regained his place at the top of the LG ICC World Rankings following the fourth and final Test between South Africa and West Indies. Kallis scored 147 in the drawn match in Antigua compared to Brian Lara’s four, meaning the former Windies skipper slips down to number two. Lara had scored innings of 196 and 176 in the two previous Tests to take him to the top of the charts, but his spell as officially the best batsman in the world on this occasion proved brief. Graeme Smith’s good series, confirmed with an innings of 126 in St John's, sees him rise two places to tenth in the list while Chris Gayle’s triple century boosts him six places to 24th. In the bowling stats, the unfortunate Makhaya Ntini pays for taking just 1-126 on the ARG featherbed by slipping below Shoaib Akhtar into fourth place.
