Youths — Don’t take your lives!

THE EDITOR: I am writing this story about a dear friend of mine since childhood, who died a few days ago.

Her parents died ten years ago in an accident. She suffered in silence for ten years after, she was an only child. Her uncle took care of her. Her birthday was on April 16, she was 20 years. She had everything, a home, a car, a good job but yet she was not happy. She fell in love with someone who she thought loved her but he was just playing. She was so in love with this person she could not love another. She started to drink and lime neglecting her job, spending money on friends who she thought were her friends but they were just using her.

She was due to leave this country on May 4 to visit her aunt in Manhattan and I thought that that trip would clear her head and heart but instead she decided to end her life.

When she was in the nursing home I visited her and she was in so much pain, she could barely talk but she said, "Vidya, my best friend, you come to see me." She said she was sorry for what she had done but life was unbearable without this man. She wished for this man and his cousin to have a great life filled with love. I started to cry and I hugged her and I dried her eyes. She did not speak again, she died right there, and I remained in shock.

I hope she is with her parents now and I hope God would forgive her. May you rest in peace my dear friend.

To the youths out there, don’t take your own lives, good times or bad times. Please turn to God, he would help you, he would be with you when you feel the lowest. Jesus never fails.
