Long shot Brown Technic lands the odds

FAVOURITES took a trouncing yesterday, Fans Apprecia-tion Day, at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. And with Brown Technic scoring her maiden victory in the 1200 metres race for West Indian-bred three-year-old mai-dens, turfites were in glee as the payout was a good $293.90 and $27.10 on the tote. Coupled with Chavez the runner-up, the exacta was a handsome $1,378.20, while the trifecta dividend was $4,784.46 and the superfecta $7,579.40.


In the West Indies-bred race for three-year-olds over 1750 metres, hot favourite Prince Charming disappointed badly finishing a well-beaten second to Crown Point. And Sure Ting survived an objection to keep the Stakes & Lower Handicap feature, beating favourite Outswinger into second. Venezuelan rider Wilmer Galviz was the top jockey of the day, landing two winners both for trainer Glenn Mendez, who led his peers. Next race day will be on Friday, when the Arima Race Club stage another of their popular Friday Lime.
