South-Central whip N/East women

THIRTEEN-YEAR old Jamie Saunders grabbed three wickets for 35 runs as South-Central defeated North-East by 25 runs in their rain-affected Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Federation zonal match. Batting first at the Pinto Road Recreation Ground in Arima, the South-Central lasses amassed 134 for two off their mandatory 25 overs with Alicia Villafana undefeated on 64, while Marissa Aguillera was not out on 28.

In reply, North-East never got their innings going and were bowled out for 109 in 21.3 overs. Stacy King struck 35 and veteran national player Brenda Solozano 17 for North-East, while Saunders received support from Rienna Juman who took two wickets for 20 runs  and Cindy Ramroop two for 24. At the end of the round-robin series, which saw both teams defeating the only other team Tobago, 24 players will be chosen to prepare for the annual West Indies tournament in Jamaica, scheduled from July 16-31.
