US$1.5M for St Kitts W/Cup venue

BASSETERRE, ST KITTS: St Kitts and Nevis received a US$1.5 million cheque from Taiwan yesterday — the third payment in a total US$12 million — grant toward renovating Warner Park for the 2007 cricket World Cup.

Taiwan foreign minister Chen Tan-sun presented the check to St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas.

St Kitts, which has never held a major international cricket match, will host two-time defending champion Australia, South Africa, and two other teams yet to be decided.
