United States days are numbered
THE EDITOR: The disturbing news of desecration of the Holy Qur’an by reckless US soldiers is not surprising, as these infidels will go to any extent to humiliate the Muslim captives. However, they must know that such unfortunate provocation will definitely bring wrath of Allah on all those involved. Allah says in that Holy Book the following: This is indeed a Qur’an most honourable, in a Book well guarded while none shall touch except those who are clean (56:77-79). Even Muslims are not permitted to touch the Holy Book if they are without ablution. Abusing human beings is one thing, but violating the etiquette of the most respected and honoured nucleus of the Islamic faith is an unforgivable mistake. It is time for the Americans to stop displaying arrogance because of their military superiority over the other nations and come to terms with the reality of history that every nation or civilisation has a fixed life span. Perhaps they should reflect on what happened to the British Empire or the USSR and take care that their end will not be one of celebration for those upon whom they trampled while they enjoyed fame. It would have been much more beneficial to the US and its foreign policy if the soldiers were taught to treat the Iraqis and Afghans as fellow human beings and not to be brutal to innocent women and children, in addition to making them suffer by taking their breadwinners away for torturing. I pray to Allah to forgive all those who desecrated His Holy Book out of ignorance and to guide them that they will not make the same mistake again. MAULANA DR WAFFIE MOHAMMED
