Tourney for secondary school cricket administrators
The second annual PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League Administrators Sixes tournament will get underway tomorrow at El Dorado Secondary School grounds beginning at 10 am. Eight teams will compete for the day’s honours in the round robin five overs per side competition. Last year the North and the East teams were declared joint winners after the final ended in a tie. This year the both teams are once again favoured to do well as they have some outstanding players in their line up. North will have in their unit former national batsman Michael Carew along with seasoned players Miguel Paty and Kelvin Nancoo. Former national opening batsman Capil Rampersad will lead the charge for the easterners in which West Indies women’s cricketer Stephanie Powers is also included. Tobago led by Arlan James of Scarborough Secondary School and the National Primary Schools Cricket Association with John Lewis of Matura Government Primary at the helm will be participating for the first time in the tournament. Also expected to give a very good account of themselves will be the SSCL officers team led by former national off spinner Surujdath Mahabir. Former top Maple batsman Earl Best and former national senior team manager Omar Khan will also line up with the officers squad. Tobago Zone, led by Arlan James of Scarborough Secon-dary School, will be striving to topple their Trinidadian counterparts.
