BWIA must stay
THE EDITOR: This is an open letter to minister Ken Valley I heard you mention something on television some time ago, I am not sure whether I heard you say the Government would have to make a hard, or bad decision on BWIA soon. Be that as it may, I would like to make some favourable suggestions to you as the agent in particular and the Government in general. First of all, BWIA is owned by the nationals of Trinidad and Tobago, and we have elected you to manage our affairs, therefore I would like you to remember these facts. I would also like to point out to you that BWIA is not only bringing in revenue to our country, it is also providing a fantastic service to Trinidad and Tobago and the rest of the Caribbean. I am quite sure that you are aware that the price for services is unlimited, and you are also aware of what has happened to Caroni 1975 Ltd and is still happening, yet they never brought in one cent of revenue to our country. There are still lots of dedicated employees in BWIA who possess the knowledge, experience and ability to make our national airline a profitable one if given the opportunity, but they are always overlooked by you and others. We have a very good chance now to put things into true perspective in and with BWIA. I would like to remind you sir that you, and/or any Government cannot see through everything that is happening in our country. First of all, you and our PNM Government must never do anything to cause the transfer or demise of BWIA. It might have been a good idea to elaborate on this aspect, but not at this forum. One thing I am sure of is that BWIA must stay. I would like to suggest at this time that you replace all of the directors at BWIA. You may think it prudent, but you would be well advised to get in touch with me on this matter, because I could assist greatly. I know of someone who could work with the subordinates to make BWIA viable. I am asking you to seek wisdom of which all of us would be proud. LENNOX BENJAMIN
