A sorry state for our paradise
THE EDITOR: Between Mr Manning’s idiotic statement that crime in this country was merely of a temporary nature and that his Government would soon have it under control, followed by the pathetic performance of Mr Martin Joseph at a post-cabinet news conference during which, he became so emotionally overwhelmed and out of control that he appeared to enter the realm of fiction and dreams, stating that the reason why his plans had failed so far was because the Opposition was informing the criminals of what those plans were in advance. I am sure that intelligent persons in the advanced and developed countries around the world must be highly amused by the performance of these local jokers who pass as politicians and leaders and have surely concluded by now that, the little "Banana Republic" of TT is being administered by a band of idiots. What is of more concern and even more frightening is the fact that such a large group of faithful party supporters can be so easily mesmerised and coerced into believing that the PNM is the greatest thing in the world and God’s gift to the people of TT. One thing for sure is that, it certainly and without any doubt questions the basic intelligence of the average man on the street, taking into consideration the fact that there are so many things falling apart all around us in spite of all the petro dollars being spent or perhaps I should say mis-spent in the country. But then perhaps most of us like it so? What a sorry state our little paradise has come to! MARTIN KAVANAGH
