Instead of stadium, give cheques to every citizen

THE EDITOR: I would be grateful if you could publish the following letter for me: There has been a great deal of controversy with regards to the proposal by a group of mad people, to construct another stadium, and this time we talking $850 million. My people by the time they finish, with cost overruns and the likes we talking at least ($1.450M) one thousand, four hundred and fifty million. Since these “madmen” are itching to spend our oil and gas money, no matter what, I would like to suggest they build a stage in the Queen’s Park Savannah and Shaw Park Tobago and give out banker’s (certified) cheques to each member of our population (1.4 million), that are bona fide citizens of Trinidad and Tobago amounting to $100,000, TT currency.

I can assure you, there shall be no controversy over this madman’s suggestion, this worthy contribution to the citizens of TT would make crime disappear for a period, long enough for the police to get their act together, and the powers that be, to increase the man power of the police force two-fold, so that we may have a vision again like the 60s and 70s when there were police on every street corner, be it foot patrol or bicycle patrol. Please make out my certified banker’s cheque to Gary Fitzwilliam. No matter what, God has a plan.

GARY FITZWILLIAM
Tobago

PS — Maybe we should donate the total sum of money to TTEC, I hear they looking for $700M loan.
