Sacrificing the country’s safety
THE EDITOR: I read this morning a letter written by Mr Clive Pantin, “850M World Class Complex for TT” and it reminded me of an interview of June 1991 where it is reported the then leader of the Opposition Mr Patrick Manning as saying in an interview that in a study conducted by Dr Selwyn Ryan and John La Guerre, the only people benefiting from the system in Trinidad are the Syrians. When he gets in to power he plans to do something about it.
Quite recently just before the submission for packages in the 2007 World Cup series, in a meeting between the government and the cricket board of control, it was reported that the Government official who said that cricket is the oval and the oval is cricket — and that is what I believe is the attitude that landed us the brown package. In the light of all the above, I wonder if the plan to build this complex is to neutralise what is so-called the mecca of cricket the Queen’s Park Oval. All at the expense of so many needs of this beleived country like lights, crime and easing traffic congestion all over the country.
