Women cricketers train with Gordon Greenidge today

A SIX-DAY Batting Clinic is taking place at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Development Centre in Balmain, Couva, under the supervision of retired West Indies opening batsman Gordon Greenidge. Today, this country’s top female cricketers will take part in the training being provided by Greenidge. Those selected by the TT Cricket Board include Nelly Williams, Jade Chadee, Anisa Mohammed, Roxanne Toussaint, Amanda Samaroo, Candice Alleyne (Tobago), Shane De Silva, Marissa Aguillera, Lee Ann Kirby, Devika Singh and Sharda Saroop.

The event this year is once again sponsored by Super Pave Limited of Plaisance Park to the tune of $20,000, and it is in preparation for two regional tournaments to take place later this year. Speaking on behalf of the TTCB was second vice-president Baldath Mahabir, who thanked Super Pave Limited for its contribution in helping to “pave the way for regional victory later this year by getting involved in such an important team building effort.”

Danny Gokool, managing director of Super Pave Limited, said his Firm was extremely pleased to get involved in such an exercise as it would help in motivating players to perform to their utmost capacity thereby bringing laurels to Trinidad and Tobago. Greenidge — one half of arguably cricket’s most successful opening pair with Desmond Haynes — said he was pleased to have got the call by the TTCB to carry out such a training clinic. Felicia Cummings, Felicia “Jamie” Walters, Sherina Assoon, Kirbyina Alexander, Gaitri Seetahal and Alisa Mohammed were also invited to today’s clinic to carry out bowling duties.
