Time drivers confess to killing
THE EDITOR: It has been 37 days since Lauren Sarah Bhola Singh was knocked down and killed by one driver who did not stop to see what he or she did and then the trauma that the other three drivers did to her body. Not one of these four drivers came forward, nor did they call in to say they were sorry for what they did. Lauren was a 12-year-old child who in her parents’ eyes could do no wrong and she never did. She was the only child for her parents, and even though they were separated they both love her very much and she in return loved them. She was a God-fearing child and never lost sight of God. She had wonderful dreams and ambitions just like every other young person. Her goal in life was to become a dentist so that she would be able to fix her father’s teeth as well as her own. She was a child who would put out 100 percent to complete any task given to her with no back talk and a pleasant smile. Lauren always thought of other people before herself. She did not deserve to die in that manner. That is why I am appealing to the drivers in the accident to come forward. You all have families, be it a husband, wife, children or brothers or sisters, even parents, if that were to happen to one of them your heart would be broken in more than two pieces. So too Peter Bhola Singh and Debbie Harrinanan are hurting. We have asked God for help and strength to overcome this, but you all (the drivers in this accident) need to seek God’s forgiveness in this matter. We know it was an accident and for you to move on in life God has to forgive you. He is the only one who can say "I forgive you for what you have done." And the only way to do that is to confess your sins to him. Look into your heart and soul and talk to God, let him know what you did and how you are thinking. These drivers must understand that they did something really bad and we, as man cannot forgive them. Look back in your mind and see just how beautiful this child looked when you knocked her down on the highway. I would like to know what is becoming of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. We used to be a loving people, now all one can hear on the radio or television and in the newspaper are murders, kidnapping, abuse and accidents. People have to learn to stop and look at what we are fast becoming. We all need to start praying as families once more and forget the fast life. I believe that Members of Parliament or the relevant authorities need to work on our road safety in order to curb the quantity of accidents. Some of our drivers need to practise better driving skills and be more aware of how others are affected. Our highways need more lights, there should be guardrails throughout the highway on both sides of the lanes, a heavier police presence, and new technology for our police officers. I do hope that the authorities read this and do something about this and I especially hope that the drivers come forward and seek God’s intervention. F MANICKCHAND
