Bas the actor, TT the stage

THE EDITOR: The stage of Trinidad and Tobago was used by the Pandays in an attempt to stimulate a little life in the UNC and Bas while comparing him to Mr Nelson Mandela — a gentleman of impeccable character whose principles, morality and accountability have never been questioned.

From a very early age Bas had a thing for acting and with this case and charges hanging over his head he and his cohorts grasped the opportunity to use this embarrassing segment to put himself in jail hoping that he can rekindle a little life in what we know is already dead, the political party, and his political career, both dead to morality, principles and accountability.

This part was too easy to recognise the sarcasm meted out to the citizens of TT and while he was playing his part his significant other was posing for every photographer with her French cut hairstyle, Italian sun glasses and a smile broad on her face like Ms Cheshire’s Cat.

However, at the end of his chosen holiday, he shed tears, indicating to us that he was sad to leave the State’s care, after his eight days of holiday was now over and the reality that his life of imprisonment was once again about to begin at Byran’s Gate.
