Aranguez businessman kidnapped


AN AranGuez businessman was abducted on Friday night. Krishna Dass, 41, a father of one, was liming with a 45-year-old man outside his Queen Street, Aranguez home at about 8.45 pm when a heavily tinted Lancer motorcar pulled up. Four men alighted, fired several shots into the air and grabbed the shocked man. No ransom demand had been made up to press time. Police say they are treating the incident as a kidnapping. Sgt David Abraham is continuing enquiries.


When Sunday Newsday visited the family home yesterday, relatives refused to talk.


In an unrelated matter, according to unconfirmed reports, a $2 million ransom has been demanded for the release of Sita Ragonanan, a clerk, of Riverside Road, Curepe.


"All we are hearing is $2 million has been demanded for her realease but the family has refused to confirm or deny," a police source said.


When contacted family members denied the claim.


Ragonanan, was abducted on Tuesday night a short distance from her Agostini Trace, Riverside Road, home. She was dropped off minutes before by her boyfriend.
