Murdered teen was abused
MURDERED Wallerfield teenager Stacy Gibbs was paid $40 by a relative every time he sexually molested her. "Stacy often confided in us that she was being sexually molested by a relative who paid her the money after he was done to hush her mouth ... she threatened to expose what was going on. "Although a report was made to the police, nothing was really done. If the police had acted Stacy would have been alive today," a member of the grieving family told Sunday Newsday. "She was so traumatised because of the situation that she ran away twice and she even took her brother with her once. Yet no one did anything because that relative was the bread winner. "He even tried to rape other relatives and they were told it was their fault, and they should hush their mouth, if they knew what was good for them. This relative even admitted to committing a similar act in another village and getting away," the relative further alleged. Stacy, 14, who was taken out of school last year, disappeared from her Moller Street home on June 17. Her body was found on Friday, eight days after her disappearance tied in a coloured sheet, under a large stone, encased in a plastic bag, tied with a piece of rope at the bottom of a half-filled cesspit which had been covered with three pieces of galavanised. A relative told the dead girl’s mother, Colleen, that her daughter had run away. He also formed part of the search party, until he admitted on Friday that he had killed her and pointed the officers to where her body lay. The suspect did not tell the police why he killed the teenager. He only said he was tired of speaking to her about running away. Police sources said they have a statement from the suspect and will be approaching the Director of Public Prosecutions tomorrow for directions on how to proceed in relation to charges. A 39-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman and a 11-year-old boy are assisting officers in their investigations. Insp John Daniel is coordinating inquiries. In an unrelated matter, Malabar police are investigating reports that a three-year-old girl was molested by a stranger. According to reports, at around 3 pm, while an Arima kindergarten was having its annual sports day at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, a parent noticed a strange man taking the two girls into the toilet. She investigated and raised an alarm when she saw the man in the toilet with the two girls. The three-year-old girl told the woman and the police that the man molested her. However, the five-year-old denied that anything like that happened. She claimed he just took them to the toilet. The man claimed he was passing and the girls asked him to take them to the toilet. A suspect is in custody and is assisting police in their investigations. Cpl Hiley of the Malabar Police Post is investigating.
