US $2M demanded for release of Nath brothers

A US$2 million has been de-manded for the safe release of the Nath brothers who were kidnapped on Monday afternoon.

The ransom demand was made at 2 am yesterday. However, Donald Nath, the father of the kidnapped men is demanding to speak with his sons before any negotiations take place.

Nath, yesterday made a heart wrenching plea to the kidnappers to give his sons food, ensure that they are not bitten by mosquitoes and not physically harmed in any way.

Nath, 69, along with his wife Sumintra, the owners of Nath’s Furniture Store in Sangre Grande, yesterday prayed with friends and relatives who gathered at their Sangre Grande home to lend support.

The father of three said that as a Christian he is sure that he will be re-united with his sons shortly.

According to Nath, his sons were kidnapped between 5 pm and 6 pm on Monday by people wearing Muslim garb.

He added that for the past four years, he and his family have been exercising all the necessary precautions because of the fear of being kidnapped. He feels that the Government and authorities are impotent in dealing with the crime situation.

He said that his sons lived at Cascade and St Clair but managed the furniture store.

They were on their way home on Monday when they were kidnapped.
