Woman dies in crash after leaving club
DEATH was instant for a 26-year-old mother of one who was killed in a two-car collision in La Romaine early yesterday morning. Jasmine Layne, of Winston Mahabir Street, Blitz Village, Pleasantville, died around 4 am after leaving The Southern Edge club at Paria Suites, La Romaine. According to police reports, Layne who was driving a white B-14 Nissan Sentra, had just left the night club and turned onto the north-bound lane on the South Trunk Road when she lost control of her vehicle. Police said Layne ended up on the south-bound lane, and moments later, a white Toyota Crown driven by Andy Morrison, 53, crashed into her car. Morrison was in the company of his wife, Avin Ali, a waitress. Passing motorists contacted the Emergency Health Services which rushed the injured to the San Fernando General Hospital. Layne, the mother of a six-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and her body taken to the San Fernando Mortuary. Layne’s husband, Hollis Vincent, was notified of his wife’s death while he was at work off-shore. San Fernando Traffic Branch is continuing investigations.
