‘Beware of drive-bye bandits’

RESIDENTS of Westmoorings, especially female are being warned to be aware of a new breed of purse snatching bandits who are committing robberies while driving about.

"Over the last six weeks we have had almost daily reports of either a silver grey B14 car or a red Jeep driving around with two men, stopping women and asking for directions and before they could respond, the bandits grab their purse and speeds off. By the time the victim raises an alarm it is too late.

Too date no one has been caught and the bandits continue to operate", police sources told Newsday.

"While we will continue to patrol the area, residents are to be cautious of anyone stopping close to them — and to beware that vehicles can change." Police also said that while they have over 30 such reports, they have information of several unreported cases.
