Fix Tarouba Road First
THE EDITOR: The condition of the Tarouba Road has deteriorated to such an extent that it has become impassable in several areas. The road has caved into the drains in several areas. The drains are all clogged. The entrances to the homes of many residents have been severely damaged causing much inconvenience to access their own homes. The WASA water supply piping, which is installed along the course of this road is damaged frequently. This deterioration is a direct result of the heavy vehicular traffic used for construction of the NHA project. Almost every day a new leak shows up. The frequent excavations by WASA in effecting repairs only add to the problems as the road is left in slush. The road at present is in a deplorable condition. Unfortunately, $850 million is to be spent to build a stadium at Tarouba while the Tarouba Road is left unmaintained and unrepaired. I am appealing to the authorities to replace the existing WASA water supply piping, construct new drains and road foundation of the Tarouba Road, which is only one mile long, before the construction of the $850 million stadium at Tarouba. Road repairs only during election time is unacceptable. REX MAHADEO
