19 unfit army trainees sent home

Fourteen male and five female army trainees were sent home recently when they failed the training fitness test. According to reports, the recruits who scored below the required 60 percent grade on their fitness mark failed their test three times and were sent packing two weeks ago. When contacted public relations officer of the army Captain Al Alexander confirmed the cut in the recruits’ training and that this was because of failing their fitness test three times.

“We have a responsibility to the recruits, the country and the army to select the best officers. Their failure could be one of several reasons including, health and if we look beyond that, the results could be dangerous. As such, based on strict requirements we had to cut them.” Alexander, however, added that this does not prevent the 19 ousted trainees from reapplying. Investigations revealed that currently there are more than 200 recruits in training. The trainees are presently undergoing a five-day rigorous “bush training” where they learn to live off the land.
