Mom of two chopped to death
A 37- year-old Red Hill, Morvant mother of two was chopped to death early yesterday by the same man who attempted to burn down her house. Her body was found in the kitchen of the house by firefighters who were quickly on the scene, and prevented the fire from spreading. The killer was seen fleeing the scene early yesterday with a bottle believed to contain a deadly weedicide. Cheryl Young Washington, the manageress of Mario’s Pizza in the Trincity Mall branch was last seen alive around midnight on Sunday. Lorris Young, a sister of the dead woman told Newsday that her sister moved out of the home of the suspect last Thursday, following years of verbal abuse and violence. She said that her sister was threatened and abused whenever she left her home to attend a party, or even if she spoke on the phone with a male friend. On Thursday night, Washington moved out and began staying at Young’s home. On Sunday night, she was called out of the house by the killer who later dragged her into his home. He dealt her several chops about the head and back and then set fire to the house. The killer was seen fleeing the scene and police investigators suspect that he may attempt suicide. As tears streamed down the face of Young, she said that her sister was a lovely person who did not deserve to die such a cruel and violent death. She felt that her sister would have been alive today if she had listened to the advice of relatives to get away from the abuse. The two children of the dead woman were in a state of shock yesterday over the death of their mother. Police investigators told Newsday that the search for the suspect would continue round the clock.
