Pedestrian killed by runaway driver
A 37-year-old woman of San Juan, a caterer, was killed almost instantly by a runaway driver. According to reports around 6 pm Monday, Nazareen Shah, was walking along the Eastern Main Road, San Juan, when she was struck by a car that flew across the road slamming her onto a wall on Jaloo’s shop. The injured woman was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she died on arrival. Another person Gregory Carr, 27, who was also struck is warded at the Port-of- Spain General Hospital. He is currently warded in a stable condition. According to reports both Shah and Carr were walking in separate directions east along the Eastern Main Road on the south side when Toola Raymond, a driver of Laventille Road, San Juan, lost control of the car he was driving swung across the road, ploughed into the pedestrians and then slammed into two cars before coming to a stop. The driver walked away without a scratch. When Newsday visited the family home at Saddle Road, San Juan, Zainul Shah, uncle of the dead girl expressed shock. She simply left home to go to Mohammed’s Pharmacy on the main road to get tablets for headaches she was experiencing.
