Jabloteh devour Stars in Pro League
NORTH EAST STARS fell victim to a double onslaught by CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh yesterday, as 12th round action in the T&T Pro League Under-16 and Under-18 Divisions continued. At the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo Jabloteh held a 13-0 lead at halftime, in the Under-16 contest, when their Sangre Grande-based opponents decided that enough was enough and refused to continue the match, forcing the match officials to award victory to Jabloteh. And Jabloteh, who lie atop the standings in both divisions, managed to play a full match against North East in the Under-18, and cruised to a 9-0 triumph.
For Jabloteh’s Under-16 squad, captain and national Under-17 defender Khaleem Hyland helped himself to six goals while Anthony Guppy chipped in with three, Stephan Knox two and one each from Micah Lewis and Robert Primus. In the Under-18 fixture, the consistent Jonathan Romain got a hat-trick, while Kadeem Gibbs and Terryl Elwin added two and Kadeem Brazy one. Two of the lowly-placed outfits, Caledonia AIA/Fire and United Petrotrin, had contrasting results at the Larry Gomes Stadium’s Training Field, Arima.
Goals by Servallo George, in the fifth minute, and Jared Bartholomew in the 80th, gave Fire a 2-0 victory in the Under-16 match-up while, in the Under-18s, Petrotrin recorded their first win of the year, by a 4-0 margin, courtesy a double by James Trim (seventh and 50th) and one apiece from Akeem Marshall (16th) and Ajamu Materson (24th). The two scheduled matches between W Connection and Tobago United, two of the season’s top outfits, were cancelled due to an unfit ground at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. Matches will continue on Tuesday.
