St Clair’s win Republic four in Tobago
ST CLAIR’S Coaching School inked what could be a record when they won all four division of this year’s tenth edition of the Republic Bank Youth Football Championships at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago. First, the girls from the coaching school headed by ex-national coach Bertille St Clair outplayed their rivals and beating Phoenix FC in the final 2-0 on Sunday. Then it was the turn of St Clair’s under-13 starlets who displayed skill beyond their years in whipping Stokelyvale 3-1 in their final. In what was to be the most exciting game of the series, Stokelyvale twice came from behind to knot up the scores 2-2 in the Under-15 Division. But St Clair’s won out on kicks from the panelty spot 3-2. In the Senior Division, newcomers Gunners FC played unbeaten in the preliminaries, and caused a big stir when they whipped ex-national Secondary Schools champs Scarborough. But the St Clair’s boys never falterd, edging Gunners FC 2-1 in their final. This year’s series in Tobago which attracted 22 teams, was kicked on the way by Assemblyman Tracy Davidson and Republic Bank, Tobago branch manager Chris Eugene. Action shifts to Central on Saturday, when the young football starlets will be on show at Presentation College, Chaguanas. And the youngsters from the North will be in action at the Hasely crawford Stadium on Sunday.
