Mother, 14, goes home
THE 14-year-old girl who allegedly bur-ied her newborn baby in a forest has been discharged from hospital, but her baby remains warded at the San Fer-nando General Hospital. The baby boy, who was given the name “Judas Praise” by nurses, will remain at the institution until social welfare officials complete their investigation. The officials will then decide if the baby will be put in a home, or returned to his mother. The girl had been warded since she delivered the baby in a bathroom of a neighbour’s house in New Grant, Princes Town, on June 8.
She was discharged on Tuesday after a psychiatrist completed an evaluation on the teen. Police are yet to take a statement from the young mother. Investigators are also searching for a 48-year-old suspect whom they believe is the baby’s father. Sgt Renrick of the Princes Town police is continuing investigations.
