Bajan football can resume
BRIDGETOWN: The Barbados Football Association will be allowed to resume their domestic season during their suspension from international play, the league president said yesterday. FIFA, the governing body of football, have suspended the BFA from international matches and programmes but the domestic season can resume on August 7, said Ronald Jones, president of the BFA. "We look forward to more high level competition and a thrilling climax to the programme," Jones said. The league received word that they could resume domestic play in a letter from Trinidadian Jack Warner, a FIFA vice president, Jones said. FIFA suspended the BFA because of a power struggle between Jones and former general secretary Randy Harris, who challenged Jones’ September presidential election victory by contesting it in the local court system. FIFA prohibit members from taking internal football matters into the local courts.
