Team TT whip Jamaica in regional squash
TRINIDAD and Tobago recorded an impressive 3-2 victory over Jamaica in their opening team match of the CLICO Junior Caribbean Area Squash Championship at the Cascadia Hotel Courts, St Ann’s, yesterday. Despite early defeats for Trinidad and Tobago’s Justin Gomez and Kevin Ross in the Under-19 Division, the home team secured crucial wins from captain Josh Pinard, Justin Sanguinette and Kale Wilson to secure the overall win. Earlier Gomez went down to Jamaica’s David Patterson in straight sets in the first match while Ross also tasted defeat to the hands of Dominic Cover three games to two in another. The results were a major set back for the local team early in the teams play-offs sets, until the Under-13 champ Kale Wilson, the Under-15 kim Sanguinette and the impressive Pinard came to the courts. Pinard in his match got the better of Chris Binnie in three straight sets (3-0) in the Boys Under-17 age bracket and Sanguinette literally clobbered Jordan Schwier in three straight sets. The overall win was sealed by Wilson, who destroyed Michael Jones in a similar three sets 3-0 to give TT the win.
