Fullbacks battle for TT recall

W CONNECTION will be looking to resume their winning ways when they oppose Defence Force in the 12th round of the T&T Pro League today. The league resumes after a month-long break, because of Trinidad and Tobago’s participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States. Connection have been in a dominant mood so far this season, having amassed 24 points from nine matches, with Defence Force a distant second with 15 from nine. Today’s match, scheduled from 7 pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, is also important for another reason.

Fullbacks Anton Pierre of Defence Force and David Atiba Charles of Connection will be looking to stake their claims for a national recall, ahead of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifier against the United States on August 17. CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh will welcome back Aurtis Whitley, Daurance Williams, Angus Eve and Cyd Gray to the fold when they square off against United Petrotrin at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella at 6 pm while midfielders Densil Theobald and Glenton Wolfe will return to Caledonia AIA/Fire and North East Stars respectively, as both teams will clash at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground from 4 pm.
