Girl, 13, found hanging in Point Fortin

A 13-year-old Point Fortin schoolgirl is  believed to have committed suicide on Saturday night after a quarrel with her father. Police reports stated that Woyzard Pegus, a pupil of Point Fortin Junior Secondary School, was found dead by her mother hanging from a belt that was suspended from a partition in her bedroom.  According to reports, around 7 pm the teenager had an argument with her father, Regis Pegus, then went into her bedroom.


Some 40 minutes later, the girl’s mother, Anjanie Alexander, went into her daughter’s bedroom and discovered the teen hanging. Point Fortin police were contacted and began investigations. District Medical Officer Kumar visited the scene and pronounced the teenager dead. The body was removed to the San Fernando Mortuary for an autopsy tomorrow. Point Fortin police are continuing investigations.
