Man pleads guilty to sex with minor for $10

A PENAL man who paid a 12-year-old girl $10 to have sex with him three years ago, Friday pleaded guilty to the crime in the San Fernando High Court. He will be sentenced on September 30 after Justice Joan Charles recieves a probation officer’s report on the man’s character. The 20-year-old accused appeared before Charles in the Third Criminal Assizes on the charge of having sex with a female under 14 years old. The judge was told that the offence was committed at the girl’s house while she was baby-sitting her younger brother after her parents had gone out on June 2, 2001.  The accused, then 16 years old, had called the girl out from her house.

State attorney Angelica Teelucksingh told the judge that the girl met the accused downstairs the house. When she said her parents were not home, the State attorney said, the accused asked her if she would have sex with him for $10. The State attorney told Charles that the girl agreed and escorted the accused into her house. The court heard that she allowed the accused to have sex with her in a bedroom. Later that day, according to Teelucksingh, the girl’s parents became aware of the act and took their daughter  to the Penal Police Station. She was subsequently medically examined by Dr Bhimsingh. Cpl Anthony Monsegue arrested the accused and charged him with the sexual offence.
