Connection face easy task
RUNAWAY LEAGUE leaders W Connection are virtually assured of three points, and their 11th win of the season, when they oppose Tobago United at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, in the 13th round of the T&T Pro League Senior Division today. So far, the “Savonetta Lads” have tallied 30 points from 11 matches, with only one setback — a 1-0 loss to CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh in late June. And, with temperamental forward Andre Toussaint leading the league with nine goals, while midfielder Gefferson Goulart and captain Earl Jean are also among the regular goal-getters, Connection will surely have little mercy on the Tobago outfit that is yet to gain a win this year.
Jabloteh will also be aiming for full points when they square off against North East Stars at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. North East, with influential captain Jerren Nixon struggling to regain full fitness from a chronic knee injury, have yet to maintain any form of consistency this season and the Sangre Grande-based squad will have to be on their toes to halt the in-form Jabloteh. Two youthful teams, Caledonia AIA/Fire and United Petrotrin, will feature in the day’s other contest at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima. All matches will begin at 4 pm.
